Honor has officially launched its MagicOS 9.0 in China, a week before unveiling its highly anticipated Magic7 flagship series.

Touted as the world’s first all-scenario personalized AI operating system, MagicOS 9.0 integrates deeper AI functionalities, primarily focusing on the enhanced role of the Yoyo voice assistant, or AI Agent, as the company refers to it.

Based on Android 15, MagicOS 9.0 incorporates Honor’s proprietary MagicLM, an advanced language model designed to enhance natural language understanding and computer vision capabilities. The system is also designed to learn user habits and adapt to various contextual cues, making interactions with the device more intuitive.

One standout feature of MagicOS 9.0 is its in-app operational abilities, which resemble the tasks of a human assistant. For instance, it can autonomously order a coffee, complete the transaction, and verify payment through a single prompt, streamlining daily tasks for users.

The MagicLM system, with its 3B parameter model, offers significant improvements over the previous 7B model. Despite having fewer parameters, MagicLM reduces power consumption by 80%, improves loading speeds by 77%, and enhances word output speed by 500%.

Additionally, it minimizes storage and RAM consumption, reducing the OS footprint by 1.8 GB and 1.6 GB, respectively.

MagicOS 9.0 also introduces the industry’s first AI Deepfake Detection feature, designed to protect users from potential scams and safeguard personal information.

On the design front, new customization tools like the Versatile Desktop, Magic Lock Screen, and Magic Style allow users to tailor their experience. The system also offers advanced features such as an AI Gallery, AI Eraser, Face Restoration, and AI Image Expansion.

While the update is currently exclusive to the Chinese market, Honor plans a global release in early 2025, alongside the Magic7 series. The international rollout will provide more details on the availability of MagicOS 9.0 for global devices.
