Islamabad, June 18, 2023: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted hot and dry weather in the weather forecast for today and provided an overview of the weather conditions in the past 24 hours.
Today, on Sunday, most areas of the country can expect hot and dry weather. Southern regions, however, will experience extremely hot temperatures. Citizens are advised to take precautions and stay hydrated during this scorching weather.
In some regions, including Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir, there is a possibility of strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms, rain, and lightning. Residents in these areas are advised to stay indoors and avoid venturing out during these conditions for their safety.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, Monday, the weather conditions are expected to be similar. Most areas of the country will experience hot and dry weather, with southern regions continuing to face extreme heat. Additionally, there is a possibility of strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain with lightning in the Potohar region, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir. It is crucial for residents in these areas to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
In the past 24 hours, the majority of the country experienced hot and dry weather. However, there were localized instances of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The areas that received rainfall include Chhor in Sindh, Nawab Shah in Sindh, and Mari in Punjab. The recorded rainfall was 2mm in Chhor, 1mm in Nawab Shah, and 1mm in Mari.
According to the weather records, yesterday’s highest recorded temperature was 47°C in Nokundi, followed by Dalbandin at 45°C. Mohenjo Daro and Sehwan experienced a slightly lower temperature of 43°C. These high temperatures highlight the need for people to stay cautious and take measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.
It is advised for the public to regularly check the weather updates from the PMD and follow the recommended safety guidelines during extreme weather conditions.
