ISLAMABAD, August 8, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and humid weather across much of the country on August 8 and 9, with limited rainfall expected in select regions.
According to the PMD, most areas will continue to experience hot and very humid weather over the weekend. On Saturday, August 9, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers are likely in the Pothohar region, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas. For Friday, similar conditions are expected, with potential rainfall in Northeast Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Pakistan’s northern highlands.
The synoptic situation indicates a seasonal low over northwest Balochistan, while moist currents from the Arabian Sea are entering the upper parts of the country. Additionally, a westerly wave is influencing Pakistan’s northern regions, slightly enhancing the chances of precipitation in those areas.
During the past 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed over most of the country. However, notable rainfall was recorded in several locations: Islamabad (Golra 41mm, Bokra 13mm), Rawalpindi (Katcheri 26mm, Gawalmandi 16mm), Attock 20mm, Khuzdar 20mm, and Garhi Dopatta 23mm, among others.
Yesterday’s highest temperatures were observed in Dalbandin and Nokkundi at 44°C, followed by Sibbi at 43°C, and Dadu and Bhakkar at 42°C. The PMD advises residents to take necessary precautions against extreme heat, while travelers to northern areas of Pakistan should remain alert for sudden weather changes, especially in hilly and mountainous regions.
