Islamabad, October 2, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast indicating that hot weather is expected to sweep across the southern regions of the country on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
According to the PMD’s daily weather forecast, dry weather is anticipated to prevail over most parts of Pakistan, with particularly high temperatures expected in the southern areas. However, there is a possibility of rain-thunderstorm activity at isolated locations in Gilgit Baltistan and adjoining regions.
The synoptic situation outlined by the PMD suggests that a continental air mass is prevailing over a significant portion of the country.
Over the past 24 hours, Pakistan experienced hot and dry weather conditions in most regions. However, there were reports of rain in specific areas, with Skardu receiving 6 mm of rainfall, Pattan 3 mm, and Dir (Upper) 2 mm.
The highest recorded maximum temperatures for the day were as follows (°C): Turbat at 42°C, while Hyderabad, Lasbella, Mithi, and Shaheed Benazirabad all recorded maximum temperatures of 41°C.
As the hot weather looms over southern Pakistan, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Meanwhile, those in Gilgit Baltistan and nearby areas should remain prepared for possible rain-thunderstorm conditions. The PMD will continue to monitor and provide updates on the weather situation to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
