Islamabad, September 21, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that Islamabad and its adjoining areas are likely to experience hot and dry weather over the next two days. The return of dry continental air has increased daytime temperatures, creating discomfort for residents of the capital.
According to the PMD, hot and dry conditions will dominate not only Islamabad but also most parts of the country. The department highlighted that this weather pattern is the result of continental air prevailing over central and southern regions, reducing the chances of rainfall during the forecast period.
Synoptic Situation
Continental air is currently prevailing over the majority of Pakistan, limiting cloud cover and moisture in the atmosphere.
Sunday
Mainly hot and dry weather is expected across most regions, including Islamabad. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
Monday
Similar hot and dry conditions are forecast to continue in many parts of the country. Islamabad, along with Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will likely see above-normal temperatures.
Past 24 Hours
The PMD reported that hot and dry weather prevailed in most areas of the country during the last 24 hours. Yesterday’s highest recorded maximum temperatures were Nokkundi 42°C, Dalbandin 41°C, and Sibbi 40°C.
With prolonged dry conditions expected, weather experts recommend that residents of Islamabad and nearby regions take precautions against heat-related health risks.
