The latest episode shifts its focus from battlefield victories to the complexities of ruling, placing Rhaenyra at the centre of one of the series’ most character-driven instalments to date.
The episode opens with Daemon Targaryen, accompanied by dragonriders Ulf and Hugh, confronting Lord Ormund Hightower to declare the war effectively over and proclaim Rhaenyra as the rightful ruler of Westeros.
Although initially hesitant, Ormund ultimately pledges his loyalty and hands over Alicent Hightower’s youngest son, Daeron, as a gesture of goodwill.
Attention then turns almost entirely to Rhaenyra during her first full day as queen, as she discovers that victory on the battlefield has not brought stability to the realm.
She learns the royal treasury has been emptied, the fractured Triarchy is attacking coastal settlements, and both Aemond Targaryen and the deposed King Aegon II Targaryen have disappeared.

Emma D’Arcy’s performance as Rhaenyra has drawn praise for portraying the queen’s growing internal conflict as she struggles to honour the peaceful legacy of her late father, King Viserys I Targaryen, while confronting the harsh realities of civil war.
