Huawei’s latest flagship supports two physical SIMs and one eSIM simultaneously, with a carrier restriction in China.
Huawei’s latest flagship, the Mate 90 Pro Max, offers an unusual connectivity feature that allows users to have three SIM connections active at the same time.
Huawei launched the smartphone in China alongside the wider Mate 90 series, which also includes the Mate 90, Mate 90 Pro and Mate 90 RS. The triple-SIM capability has been highlighted by an X user and is also listed on Huawei’s official specifications page for the device.
The Mate 90 Pro Max supports two physical SIM cards and two eSIMs. However, users can activate a maximum of three connections simultaneously, consisting of two physical SIMs and one eSIM.
There is an important limitation. Huawei states that two of the three active connections must belong to the same Chinese carrier. This means the feature is primarily designed around the network configurations available in the Chinese market.
The triple-SIM functionality could be useful for users who need multiple mobile connections on a single handset, particularly those managing separate numbers for work, personal use or different services.
Beyond its SIM capabilities, the Mate 90 Pro Max is positioned as a high-end flagship with a 6.9-inch display and a triple rear camera system.
The smartphone is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and packs a 6,800mAh battery. Its camera system includes a 50MP main sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a 40MP ultrawide camera.
Huawei has also equipped the phone with advanced display technology, while its large battery is designed to provide extended usage between charges.
The Mate 90 Pro Max is currently launched in China as part of Huawei’s latest flagship range. Details about availability in other markets, including whether its triple-SIM functionality will be offered outside China, have not been provided in the supplied information.
