Huawei is reportedly gearing up to launch its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Huawei Mate X7, as early as next month.
The latest leak from China gives us a clearer picture of what to expect from the device, following initial rumors that surfaced in July. With major design improvements, upgraded hardware, and enhanced imaging features, the Mate X7 is set to succeed the Huawei Mate X6 and strengthen Huawei’s position in the foldable smartphone market.
The device is said to carry the internal codename Delphi and is currently being tested in a range of color options. According to reports, Huawei will offer the Mate X7 in Obsidian Black, Phantom Purple, Cosmic Red, Cloud Blue, and Cloud White — giving users multiple stylish choices.
In terms of display, the Mate X7 will reportedly feature a 7.95-inch LTPO OLED foldable panel with a “2K” resolution, promising sharp visuals and smooth performance. The new foldable is also expected to pack a larger battery than the Mate X6, which currently has a 5,110 mAh capacity. This suggests a longer battery life and enhanced endurance for power-intensive tasks such as multitasking and media consumption.
Under the hood, Huawei is rumored to equip the Mate X7 with the powerful Kirin 9030 chipset, marking another step forward in Huawei’s in-house processor advancements. The device is also tipped to be slimmer than the Mate X6, which measures 4.6 mm when unfolded and 9.9 mm when folded — signaling Huawei’s push for sleeker, more refined foldable hardware.
Camera upgrades appear to be a key focus as well. Previous leaks indicated Huawei was testing two 50MP main camera sensors — one with a 1/1.56-inch sensor size and another with a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor. It remains unknown which configuration the company finalized. Alongside the main shooter, the Mate X7 is also expected to include an ultrawide sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with macro photography support.
With its rumored cutting-edge specifications and refined design, the Huawei Mate X7 looks poised to be one of the most anticipated foldable devices of the year. Huawei fans and smartphone enthusiasts alike can expect official details to surface soon as the launch window approaches.
