Huawei has officially introduced its latest foldable smartphone, the Huawei Mate X7, featuring a series of meaningful upgrades over last year’s Mate X6.
From enhanced durability to a new flagship chipset and improved camera hardware, the Mate X7 aims to deliver a premium foldable experience with added refinement.
The Mate X7 brings noticeable improvements in build quality, offering updated IP58 and IP59 ingress protection ratings. This means the device is now better protected against dust, splashes, and even high-pressure water jets—an impressive feat for a foldable phone.
Despite packing more advanced hardware, Huawei has managed to reduce its size and weight. The Mate X7 measures just 9.5mm when folded and an ultra-slim 4.5mm when unfolded, weighing 235g—4 grams lighter than its predecessor. The solid aluminum frame further strengthens its durability.
In terms of displays, the Mate X7 features a slightly larger 6.49-inch cover screen with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio, paired with an expansive 8-inch main display offering an 8:7.3 ratio. Both panels use LTPO OLED technology, support a smooth 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and include 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming for comfortable viewing.
Photography sees a notable upgrade with the inclusion of a 50MP telephoto camera featuring a wider f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom. The main 50MP RYYB sensor with a 10-stop physical variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0) and OIS remains unchanged, while the 40MP ultrawide camera completes the rear setup. For selfies, the Mate X7 includes two 8MP shooters—one on each display.
Powering the device is Huawei’s new Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, shared with the Mate 80 Pro series. The processor reportedly uses a nine-core ARMv8 design, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage depending on the variant.
Battery life also improves thanks to a 5,600mAh dual-cell Si-C battery supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The device runs HarmonyOS 6 and includes satellite connectivity.
The Huawei Mate X7 comes in Black, White, Purple, and Red, with prices starting at CNY 12,999. Open sales in China begin on December 5.
