Huawei has officially introduced the Mate XTs, its second-generation tri-fold smartphone, bringing modest yet meaningful upgrades over last year’s model.

While the overall design remains unchanged, the device is now available in two new finishes — purple and white — alongside the existing black and red options.

The Huawei Mate XTs features a 10.2-inch LTPO OLED display with 3K resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 1,800 nits peak brightness. Its 16:11 aspect ratio allows users to run up to three apps side by side, making it ideal for multitasking. Stylus support is also retained for creative and productivity-focused users.

When folded, the display size adapts to different use cases: 7.9 inches in dual-screen mode and 6.4 inches in compact mode, offering a comfortable one-handed experience. Despite its size, the device is remarkably slim, measuring 3.8mm when unfolded and 12.8mm when folded, with a weight of just 298 grams.

On the camera front, Huawei has upgraded the 40MP ultrawide lens (13mm), which now joins a 50MP main camera with a variable f/1.4–f/4.0 aperture and a 12MP periscope telephoto lens (125mm). This setup mirrors last year’s flagship configuration but adds improved ultrawide capabilities.

Under the hood, the Mate XTs debuts the Kirin 9020 chipset, replacing the older Kirin 9010. Huawei claims it delivers 36% faster performance, the same powerhouse found in the Pura 80 Pro+ and 80 Ultra. All models come equipped with 16GB RAM, with storage options ranging from 256GB up to 1TB.

Powering the device is a 5,600 mAh battery with 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. On the software side, the Mate XTs runs HarmonyOS 5.1, optimized for the foldable’s unique multi-screen experience.

Pricing in China starts at CNY 17,999 ($2,520) for the 16GB/256GB model, CNY 19,999 ($2,800) for 512GB, and CNY 21,999 ($3,080) for the 1TB variant. Deliveries begin on September 12, though Huawei has yet to confirm international availability.

With its tri-fold design, upgraded performance, and improved ultrawide camera, the Mate XTs continues Huawei’s push in redefining foldable smartphones.
