Huawei has rolled out a major software update for its Pura 70 Ultra series, enhancing the camera and image editing capabilities of its flagship device.
Launched in April 2024, before the surge in AI popularity, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is now keeping up with industry trends by incorporating the AI Image Expansion feature. This new functionality is expected to elevate the user experience, making photo editing more versatile and innovative.
The AI Image Expansion feature allows users to extend the field of view in an image, giving them more control over their photos. Accessible through the Gallery app, users simply select an image, tap the Edit icon, and find the new “AI Image Retouch” option, which includes the “Expand Image” tool.
By using AI to intelligently add more detail to photos, users can enhance their shots without losing image quality. This update places Huawei at the forefront of AI-driven image editing technology, aligning it with competitors that have already begun incorporating AI-based features.
This new functionality comes as part of a firmware update that introduces HarmonyOS version 4.2.0.176 to the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra. In addition to the AI Image Expansion tool, the update includes a security patch from July 2024, improving the device’s overall security and performance.
The size of the update is approximately 347 MB and has been released to a limited number of users in China.
Though the update is currently limited to Chinese users, Huawei has confirmed that it plans to roll it out internationally soon. Users around the world can expect to receive the AI Image Expansion feature and the accompanying security enhancements in the near future.
With this update, Huawei is not only keeping pace with current AI trends but also ensuring that the Pura 70 Ultra remains competitive in the fast-evolving smartphone market.
