Islamabad, April 18, 2026 – A senior delegation from Huawei Technologies held talks with Bilal Bin Saqib, Minister of State and Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA), to explore cooperation on cybersecurity and digital exchange infrastructure, officials said on Saturday.
The meeting underscored a shared view that strong cybersecurity frameworks are critical for the sustainable development of Pakistan’s emerging virtual assets sector.
Discussions focused on Pakistan’s requirements for securing its digital asset ecosystem, alongside Huawei’s global experience in cybersecurity assurance, cryptographic technologies and compliance frameworks aligned with international standards. Participants also reviewed the role of advanced cloud computing, artificial intelligence and data infrastructure in building a secure and resilient digital exchange environment.
Saqib said Pakistan aims to develop a digital asset framework grounded in cyber resilience, consumer protection and regulatory transparency. He added that the authority is working to position the country as a secure and innovation-driven jurisdiction for virtual assets in the region.
The Huawei delegation, led by Ahmed Bilal Masud, expressed interest in supporting Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda as a technology partner. The delegation included Corey Deng, along with other senior representatives.
Officials said both sides agreed to continue technical-level discussions and explore structured collaboration in the coming months.
Pakistan has recently moved to formalise its virtual assets sector through regulatory initiatives aimed at improving oversight, enhancing investor confidence and aligning with global compliance standards, as authorities seek to tap into the growing digital economy while mitigating associated risks.
