HUBCO’s joint venture has commissioned the Lundali-I well in the Sukhpur-II concession, with initial gas production reaching around 10 MMscfd and supplies starting to Sui Southern Gas Company.
KARACHI: Hub Power Company Limited (HUBCO) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that its group joint venture has successfully commissioned the Lundali-I well in the Sukhpur-II concession and achieved first gas.
In a material information notice, HUBCO said Prime International Oil and Gas Company Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary Prime Global Energies Limited, commissioned the well and achieved first gas on September 6, 2026.
The Lundali-I well is currently producing around 10 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of natural gas at a wellhead pressure of 2,000 psi. The gas is being supplied to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC).
Prime Global Energies operates Sukhpur-II concession
Prime Global Energies is the operator of the Sukhpur-II concession, while Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Mari Energies Limited (MEL) and Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company Limited (TPOC) are joint venture partners.
HUBCO said the disclosure was made in accordance with the applicable provisions of Sections 96 and 131 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Rule 5.6.1(a) of the PSX Rule Book.
The Sukhpur-II concession, also known as Block 2568-23, became effective on December 2, 2025, when its Petroleum Concession Agreement and Exploration Licence came into force.
Following the award of the licence, the joint venture accelerated exploration and development activities in the block, culminating in the successful commissioning of the Lundali-I well.
Lundali-I gas production to support energy supply
The development represents a step towards increasing Pakistan’s indigenous gas production and reducing reliance on imported energy resources.
HUBCO said the milestone underscores the group’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s energy security through the development of domestic hydrocarbon resources.
The commencement of gas production from Lundali-I is also expected to support the country’s energy supply by adding locally produced natural gas to the system through SSGC.
