Hyderabad Kingsmen storm into PSL 11 final after thriller against Islamabad United

Pakistan Super League

LAHORE, May 1, 2026 – Debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen booked their place in the final of the Pakistan Super League season 11 after edging past Islamabad United by two runs in a tense eliminator at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

The Kingsmen will face table-toppers Peshawar Zalmi in the final at the same venue on Sunday, while Islamabad’s campaign ended in the eight-team tournament.

Chasing 187, Islamabad United faltered early, losing Sameer Minhas and Mohsin Riaz inside three overs with just 15 runs on the board.

Captain Shadab Khan and Devon Conway steadied the innings with a 42-run stand before Saim Ayub dismissed Conway for 30.

Shadab scored a cautious 22 before falling to Hassan Khan, leaving Islamabad needing acceleration in the middle overs.

Mark Chapman then anchored the chase with a brisk 43 off 26 balls, sharing a 64-run partnership with Haider Ali, who struck 31 off 16 deliveries.

Despite their dismissals in the closing overs, Islamabad appeared in control when Faheem Ashraf and Chris Green hammered 22 runs in the penultimate over, reducing the target to six off the final over.

However, fast bowler Hunain Shah held his nerve, conceding just three runs to seal a dramatic two-run victory and earn Player of the Match honours.

Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen posted 186 for five after being put in to bat, recovering from an early setback.

Richard Gleeson dismissed opener Maaz Sadaqat for a duck in the first over before Saim Ayub and captain Marnus Labuschagne added 70 runs for the second wicket.

Saim scored 38 before falling to Chris Green, while Labuschagne made 40. Glenn Maxwell and Labuschagne were both dismissed by Imad Wasim, leaving the Kingsmen at 85 for four.

A decisive 101-run fifth-wicket partnership between Usman Khan and Kusal Perera lifted the total beyond 180.

Usman remained unbeaten on 61 off 30 balls, while Perera contributed 37 off 21 deliveries.

For Islamabad United, Imad Wasim was the standout bowler with two wickets, while Faheem Ashraf, Richard Gleeson and Chris Green claimed one each.
