ICC Announces March 2024 Player of the Month Shortlist

The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the contenders for the prestigious ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for March 2024. These awards spotlight exceptional performances on the global cricket stage across various formats.

In the running for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month are standout players who left a mark in Test cricket. Mark Adair, pivotal in Ireland’s historic Test victory over Afghanistan, headlines the list alongside New Zealand’s Matt Henry, who showcased a stellar bowling display in the World Test Championship series against Australia.

Also vying for the title is Kamindu Mendis from Sri Lanka, recognized for his record-breaking batting feats against Bangladesh. The winners will be decided through voting by the independent ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide, with the announcement set for next week.

ICC Men’s Player of the Month Nominees for March:

Mark Adair (Ireland):

Mark Adair showcased exceptional all-round performances across all formats, notably spearheading Ireland’s first-ever Test victory against Afghanistan with his superb bowling figures of 8 wickets in Abu Dhabi. His contributions extended across ODI and T20I series, totaling 16 wickets for the month.

Matt Henry (New Zealand):

Despite New Zealand’s series loss to Australia, Matt Henry emerged as a standout performer with his consistent bowling, clinching 17 wickets across two Tests. His fiery spells dismantled the opposition’s top order, earning him the Player of the Series accolade.

Kamindu Mendis (Sri Lanka):

Kamindu Mendis impressed with his resilience and record-breaking batting in Sri Lanka’s Test series against Bangladesh, notably scoring a remarkable 164 in the first Test, becoming the first player batting at number seven or lower to hit two centuries in a single Test.
