Islamabad, March 12, 2025 – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially extended its gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for successfully organizing and hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
This tournament marked the return of an ICC event to Pakistan after nearly three decades, with the last one being the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 featured eight teams competing in a highly anticipated tournament that concluded on Sunday, March 9. India emerged victorious, securing their third title in the history of the competition. The tournament comprised 15 matches, which were played across three major cities in Pakistan – Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. However, due to security concerns, all of India’s matches were played in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This historic event commenced on February 19, making it the first ICC tournament hosted by Pakistan since 1996. The ICC acknowledged the efforts of the PCB in successfully delivering a world-class competition, ensuring seamless logistics, and providing an exceptional experience for players and fans alike.
ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed his appreciation for the PCB’s efforts in hosting the tournament. “We would like to thank and congratulate the Pakistan Cricket Board for successfully hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” he said. “Bringing an ICC event back to Pakistan after so many years was of immense significance, and the PCB’s dedication to renovating stadiums, preparing world-class playing surfaces, and managing the logistics of such a high-profile tournament deserves great recognition.”
Allardice also extended his gratitude to the Emirates Cricket Board for their contribution to the event. “The ICC would also like to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for staging five of the matches in Dubai and for their continued support in hosting ICC’s premier men’s and women’s events,” he added.
The ICC’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s successful hosting of the Champions Trophy 2025 is seen as a major boost for the country’s cricketing landscape. With this milestone achieved, Pakistan is now in a strong position to host more ICC events in the future, further cementing its reputation as a capable and reliable cricketing destination.
