The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to release its Invitation To Tender (ITT) for the role of the ICC’s Official Social Media Partner from 2024 to 2027.

This move comes on the heels of the record-breaking social media performance during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, where fans generated a staggering 16.3 billion video views of the event on Meta platforms, including 9.7 billion on Facebook and 6.6 billion on Instagram.

The tender process offers three comprehensive packages covering up to 13 ICC events scheduled until the end of 2027. The events encompass a variety of categories, including men’s and women’s senior tournaments, as well as U19 competitions. This initiative marks the beginning of the next cycle, commencing with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup set to take place in the West Indies and the USA in June.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed excitement about the release of the ITT, highlighting the organization’s commitment to expanding its digital and broadcast partnerships. The ICC’s digital platforms have witnessed remarkable growth, exemplified by the outstanding figures of 16.3 billion video views recorded on Meta platforms during the recent Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

“These numbers highlight the appetite for innovative and engaging ICC event content globally, and we look forward to building on this success further in the next cycle,” said Geoff Allardice.

The ICC’s decision to seek an Official Social Media Partner underscores the pivotal role that social media plays in the modern sports landscape. The power of digital platforms to connect with fans, provide engaging content, and enhance the overall viewer experience has become increasingly evident, and the ICC aims to capitalize on this trend.

The successful bidder will not only gain the prestigious title of the ICC’s Official Social Media Partner but will also play a vital role in shaping the digital narrative of some of the most significant cricket events over the next three years. As the ICC continues to focus on expanding its digital footprint, the partnership is expected to yield mutually beneficial outcomes for both the cricketing body and the selected social media partner.
