Karachi, October 9, 2025 – Indus Motor Company (IMC), the local assembler of Toyota vehicles, has expressed its intent to enter the commercial import business of used cars under the government’s newly introduced auto policy.
According to a company statement, IMC has approached the Engineering Development Board (EDB) for clarity on procedural requirements, documentation, and compliance measures related to the import of used vehicles. The company stated that while its main focus remains on sustaining and expanding local CKD (Completely Knocked Down) operations — which play a key role in employment generation and localization — it is considering commercial imports to align with evolving market dynamics and government regulations.
IMC highlighted its readiness to manage such imports effectively through its nationwide network of 58 dealerships, equipped with skilled engineers and technicians capable of providing quality aftersales service and maintenance support.
The automaker emphasized that any move toward importing used vehicles would be carried out strictly in compliance with the regulatory framework and with full transparency. It has sought detailed guidance from EDB to ensure smooth implementation of the new policy.
This development follows the Ministry of Commerce’s issuance of SRO 1895(I)/2025 on June 30, which permits the commercial import of used vehicles under HS Codes 8702, 8703, 8704, and 8711.
