Instagram has rolled out a fresh update for its video editing app Edits, introducing bilingual captions and several new creative tools as Meta continues to expand features aimed at content creators.
Edits, launched in January last year as Meta’s answer to ByteDance-owned CapCut, now allows users to automatically translate video captions into a secondary language, making it easier to reach audiences across multiple regions.
The bilingual captions feature currently supports 16 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian, Thai, Bengali, Gujarati and Kannada.
The latest update also enhances the app’s template functionality. Creators can now build richer editing templates by adding overlays and locking specific video clips, providing greater control over projects while simplifying the editing process.
In addition, Instagram has expanded its library of audio effects with a selection of summer-themed sound effects designed to give short-form videos a seasonal touch.
The new features are part of Meta’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Edits as a standalone video creation platform for Instagram creators. Since its launch, the app has steadily gained editing capabilities designed to compete with popular mobile video editing tools.
Meta has continued investing in creator-focused products as competition intensifies among short-form video platforms, with advanced editing tools becoming an increasingly important feature for attracting and retaining users.
The latest Edits update is rolling out gradually to users through the app.
