Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 update could bring one of the biggest redesigns to Siri in years, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Early hints from Apple’s WWDC26 promotional artwork suggest the voice assistant will receive a completely refreshed interface along with new artificial intelligence capabilities.
The redesigned Siri interface reportedly features glowing visual effects that resemble the artwork used in Apple’s WWDC26 teaser. These glowing elements appear especially striking when the iPhone is used in dark mode, which may explain why the WWDC poster prominently uses a black background. While the design could still evolve before its official unveiling, the current version being tested inside Apple offers a clear direction for the company’s next-generation assistant.
According to Gurman, Siri will now appear directly within the Dynamic Island on supported iPhones. When activated, the pill-shaped element at the top of the screen expands and displays a prompt that reads “Search or Ask,” accompanied by a glowing cursor. The animation and lighting effect closely resemble the glow used in the “26” branding for WWDC26.
The new design will also extend to a standalone Siri application, where the search bar is expected to feature the same glowing visual style. This interface change signals Apple’s effort to modernize Siri and make it feel more interactive and visually integrated with the iPhone’s display.
This would mark the second major redesign of Siri during Apple’s push into advanced AI technologies. The previous redesign arrived with iOS 18 as part of Apple Intelligence, introducing a rainbow lighting effect around the edge of the screen when Siri was activated. However, several of the promised features tied to that version were delayed, prompting Apple to revisit the design and functionality of its voice assistant.
The upcoming Siri experience in iOS 27 is expected to function more like modern AI chatbots. Users will reportedly be able to hold ongoing conversations, combine multiple requests in a single command, and benefit from improved understanding of personal context and on-screen content.
Apple is also expected to introduce a dedicated Siri app that stores previous conversations, while the search experience across Siri and Spotlight could be unified. Apple will likely preview the new Siri at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, with the WWDC26 keynote scheduled for June 8.
