Iranian President Arrives in Islamabad

President Masoud Pezeshkian receives ceremonial welcome in Islamabad and holds talks with Pakistan’s top leadership.

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for a state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, marking another important step in strengthening bilateral relations between the neighboring countries.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally welcomed the Iranian leader upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase.

A ceremonial reception was arranged in his honour, including a 21-gun salute and a flypast by fighter jets, reflecting the importance Pakistan attaches to its ties with Iran.

Several senior Pakistani officials were present to receive the Iranian president. Among them were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. Other high-ranking government representatives also attended the reception ceremony.

President Pezeshkian arrived with a high-level delegation comprising Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and other senior officials.

During the visit, the Iranian president is scheduled to hold separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, regional connectivity, energy, and other areas of mutual interest.

This marks Dr. Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan since assuming office as the President of Iran. His trip underscores the longstanding and cordial relationship shared by the two neighboring countries.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi reached Islamabad as part of the presidential delegation. He was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

Pakistan and Iran enjoy deep-rooted brotherly relations based on shared history, cultural links, and religious affinity. The visit by President Pezeshkian is expected to further strengthen cooperation and expand diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
