According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather in Islamabad is expected to remain cold and partly cloudy, with a 30% chance of light rain at isolated locations within Islamabad and its surrounding areas.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Islamabad is projected to experience similar weather conditions, with cold and partly cloudy skies expected to persist. Residents of Islamabad are advised to prepare for the chilly weather and possible light precipitation in the coming days.

At the national level, the PMD reports that a westerly wave is currently affecting the western and upper parts of the country, while continental air prevails over the remaining areas. These weather systems are expected to influence the overall climatic patterns across Pakistan.

Tuesday’s Weather Outlook

The PMD forecasts predominantly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country on Tuesday. However, rain and snowfall on the hills are expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and southwestern Balochistan. In Islamabad, light rain may occur at scattered locations, adding to the cool and partly cloudy ambiance.

On Wednesday, similar weather conditions will continue across the country. Islamabad and surrounding areas will likely experience cold and partly cloudy weather. Meanwhile, rain and snowfall are expected to persist in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and southwestern Balochistan. Shallow fog is also anticipated in several districts of Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning and night hours.

Cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed across most regions of Pakistan over the past 24 hours. Rain and snowfall were recorded at isolated locations, including areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Punjab, and Kashmir. Key rainfall measurements include:

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Patan (14 mm), Malam Jabba and Chitral (12 mm each), Dir Upper (9 mm), and Lower Dir (6 mm).

• Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (10 mm in the city, 8 mm at the airport).

• Balochistan: Quetta (2 mm) and Zhob (1 mm).

Snowfall measurements included 9 inches in Kalam, 7 inches in Malam Jabba, and 2 inches in Astor. Islamabad remained cold and partly cloudy, reflecting the broader weather trends.

Recorded Lowest Temperatures

The lowest minimum temperatures on Monday were observed in Leh (-9°C), Gopis and Skardu (-5°C), and Kalam (-1°C). In Gilgit, the mercury dropped to 0°C. Islamabad’s chilly weather reinforces the need for warm clothing and precautions against the cold.
