Islamabad Braces for 2°C Temperature with Cloudy Skies

Islamabad, February 8, 2025 – Residents of Islamabad should prepare for a chilly night as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a minimum temperature of 2°C over the next 24 hours.

The weather is expected to remain cold and partly cloudy, with a possibility of light rain in surrounding areas.

According to the PMD, temperatures in Islamabad will continue to drop, with Saturday, February 8, 2025, expected to bring cold and overcast conditions. Similarly, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, the city will experience partly cloudy weather, with the mercury staying low throughout the weekend. While no significant rainfall is predicted in Islamabad, the western and northern regions of Pakistan may see light precipitation.

The overall weather pattern across the country is being influenced by continental air, which is dominant over most regions. Additionally, a shallow westerly wave is affecting the western and northern parts of the country, contributing to cooler temperatures and cloudy conditions.

The weather in Islamabad will remain cold and cloudy, with temperatures staying low throughout the day. Meanwhile, northwestern Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to receive light rain or snowfall, creating wintry conditions in the northern areas.

Past 24-Hour Weather Report

Over the last 24 hours, Islamabad and most parts of the country experienced cold and dry conditions, while hilly areas saw freezing temperatures. The lowest recorded temperatures in Pakistan included Leh at -12°C, Skardu and Astore at -6°C, and Kalam at -5°C. Other northern regions such as Hunza, Gilgit, and Bagrote also recorded subzero temperatures.

With the ongoing cold spell, Islamabad’s residents are advised to take precautions against the frigid weather, particularly during nighttime when temperatures are expected to be at their lowest.
