Islamabad, July 8, 2025 – The monsoon season has firmly set in over Islamabad, with the capital city expected to receive continued rainfall and persistent cloud cover over the next several days.

According to the latest update from AccuWeather, residents of Islamabad should prepare for more monsoon showers, increased humidity, and fluctuating temperatures as weather patterns remain unstable.

On Tuesday, July 8, Islamabad experienced a hot and humid day with temperatures reaching up to 36°C. However, the RealFeel® temperature surged to 43°C due to high moisture levels in the air. Cloudy skies persisted throughout the day, signaling the grip of the monsoon system over the region. Winds remained light from the east-southeast at 9 km/h, with a high UV index of 7.

As the monsoon cycle intensifies, Wednesday, July 9 is forecasted to bring a dip in temperatures, with highs around 31°C. More importantly, weather experts are predicting a 70% chance of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in the afternoon. Islamabad is likely to witness alternating periods of sun and clouds, typical of monsoon dynamics. Southeast winds are expected to pick up speed at 15 km/h.

On Thursday, July 10, the capital will continue to see monsoon influence, with forecasts indicating a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon. Temperatures will hover near 32°C, while RealFeel® conditions may reach 37°C. Cloudy intervals will persist, reflecting the ongoing impact of the monsoon system across Islamabad and surrounding areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also issued advisories for residents, urging caution during heavy monsoon spells, particularly in low-lying zones prone to waterlogging. Islamabad’s civic agencies are on alert to manage any potential urban flooding as the monsoon rains advance.

Monsoon rains bring much-needed relief from the scorching summer, but they also pose challenges related to commuting, drainage, and power supply. Islamabad’s authorities are working to ensure smooth operations during this critical weather period. Citizens are advised to stay updated on daily forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially during intense rain spells expected to continue through the monsoon season.
