Islamabad, January 15, 2025 – The capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad, is forecasted to experience cold and partly cloudy weather on Thursday, January 16, 2025, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Similar weather patterns were observed on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, with conditions expected to persist.

The PMD highlighted that continental air continues to dominate most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is present over northern Balochistan, influencing the weather in Islamabad and adjacent regions.

Wednesday Forecast for Islamabad and Beyond

On Wednesday, Islamabad and the rest of the country witnessed mainly cold and dry conditions, with very cold weather prevailing in the hilly areas. The PMD reported the possibility of light rain or snowfall at isolated locations in northern Balochistan. Meanwhile, moderate to dense fog was observed in patches across several districts of Punjab. Islamabad also experienced some foggy conditions during the early morning hours.

Thursday Weather Outlook for Islamabad

On Thursday, Islamabad will continue to experience cold and dry weather, with very cold temperatures expected in the nearby hilly regions. Moderate to dense fog is likely to persist in the plains of upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the morning and night hours. Additionally, there is a slight chance of light rain or snowfall at isolated places in Kashmir and the adjoining hilly areas. Islamabad residents are advised to take precautions during foggy hours, especially when traveling.

Over the past 24 hours, Islamabad and other parts of the country experienced cold and dry weather. In the hilly areas, the conditions were very cold and partly cloudy. Dense to moderate fog prevailed across Punjab, with Islamabad observing reduced visibility in the early morning. Light rain and snowfall occurred in a few locations in northern Balochistan.

Recorded Lowest Minimum Temperatures (January 15, 2025)

In the past day, the lowest minimum temperatures recorded included Leh at -12°C, Skardu at -10°C, and Gupis at -9°C. Other notable readings were Astore (-7°C), Kalam, Hunza, Gilgit, and Bagrote (-5°C), as well as Parachinar, Ziarat, and Kalat (-4°C). Islamabad’s temperatures, though not as extreme, remained notably chilly, contributing to the overall cold spell affecting the region.
