ISLAMABAD, June 9, 2025 – Islamabad is reeling under an intense heatwave, with the temperature forecasted to soar to a blistering 50°C on Monday. The capital of Pakistan is facing very hot weather conditions, with residents urged to stay indoors and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
As of today, meteorological updates suggest that the hot spell is expected to continue, with limited chances of rain offering only brief relief.
According to AccuWeather, Islamabad’s weather today is marked by extreme heat, with a “RealFeel” temperature of 52°C, indicating that the impact of the sun is even harsher than the actual temperature. The RealFeel Shade™ still stands at a scorching 49°C, warning of high risks of dehydration and heatstroke. A maximum UV Index of 12 (Extreme) further underscores the danger of sun exposure in such conditions.
Forecasts for the upcoming days also paint a picture of persistently hot weather. On Tuesday, June 10, Islamabad is expected to experience a high of 44°C with hazy sun, though slightly less severe than Monday. The RealFeel remains dangerously high at 45°C, and similar conditions are expected on Wednesday, June 11.
Despite the extreme hot conditions, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted a slight chance of a weather shift in Islamabad. The department reports that very hot weather will persist throughout the day, but partly cloudy skies may bring isolated dust storms or light rain during the evening or night, with a 30% probability. While not enough to fully break the heatwave, any rain will be welcomed by Islamabad residents desperate for a cooldown.
Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday, PMD forecasts indicate that hot and dry weather will dominate Islamabad and its surrounding areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain very hot, and gusty winds may further aggravate the discomfort, especially for those working outdoors.
Citizens in Islamabad are advised to stay well-hydrated, avoid outdoor activity during peak sun hours, and take all necessary precautions. The ongoing hot weather episode has made Islamabad’s June climate particularly challenging, reinforcing the need for proactive weather monitoring and heat safety awareness.
With the capital city facing such extreme temperatures, authorities are urging the public to follow advisories and monitor daily weather updates for potential relief.
Note: The weather forecast was recorded at 12:40 PM (PST) which may change with regular intervals.
