Islamabad May Receive Thundershower on September 12

September 11, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting the possibility of a thundershower in Islamabad on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

This forecast comes as part of the daily weather update provided by the met office.

According to the PMD’s weather forecast, most plain areas of the country are expected to experience hot and humid weather conditions. However, there is a likelihood of rain, wind, and thundershowers occurring at isolated places in several regions, including Islamabad, the Potohar region, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.

The synoptic situation, as described by the PMD, involves the prevailing influence of continental air over most parts of the country. Additionally, a shallow westerly wave has been identified over the upper regions of the country.

Reflecting on the weather conditions during the past 24 hours, the PMD reported that hot and humid weather dominated most parts of Pakistan. There were isolated instances of rainfall in certain areas, with recorded rainfall amounts (in millimeters) including:

Punjab: Sialkot (Airport 04), Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 04, Chaklala 01), Murree 03

Kashmir: Muzaffarabad Airport and City 03

The recorded highest maximum temperatures for the day were Nokkundi at 45°C and Dalbandin at 44°C.

As the weather forecast suggests the possibility of thundershowers in Islamabad and other regions, residents and travelers are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
