According to the PMD, cloudy skies accompanied by rain are expected in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, with a 60% probability of precipitation.
For Saturday, January 4, 2025, the PMD predicts partly cloudy weather in Islamabad, with chances of light rain or drizzle during the night, estimated at a 40% likelihood. This pattern indicates a gradual buildup toward the more significant rainfall anticipated on Sunday.
On a national scale, the PMD reports the presence of a frontal weather system affecting the upper parts of Pakistan, expected to persist until the morning of January 6. This system is responsible for the wet weather projected in various regions, including Islamabad.
Saturday Weather Outlook Rain and snowfall over the hills are likely in northern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby mountainous regions. Rain is also forecasted for the Pothohar region and Islamabad. Additionally, areas such as Murree and Galiyat may experience rain or snow during the evening or night. Moderate to dense fog is expected to persist in the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during the night, posing visibility challenges for commuters.
Sunday Weather Forecast On Sunday, widespread rain, coupled with snow over higher altitudes, is anticipated in northern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galiyat. Meanwhile, moderate to dense fog is likely to blanket the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning and nighttime hours. Residents of Islamabad can expect a cool and refreshing atmosphere, with the rain providing a delightful interlude to the usual winter chill.
Recent Weather Conditions Over the past 24 hours, rain and snowfall have been reported in northern Balochistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Islamabad and other areas experienced cold and partly cloudy conditions. Punjab and upper Sindh saw persistent moderate to dense fog. Recorded rainfall included 11 mm in Kalat and 7 mm in Zhob, while snowfall reached 2 inches in Ziarat.
Lowest Temperatures Recorded The coldest temperatures were observed in Gupis at -6°C, followed by Leh and Ziarat at -4°C, and Bagrote and Parachinar at -3°C.
