Islamabad Weather Outlook for the Next Three Days

Weather Forecast Thundershowers

Islamabad, December 19, 2024: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its weather outlook for Islamabad, forecasting very cold conditions and morning frost in the coming days. Residents of the capital are advised to prepare for an extended spell of chilly and dry weather.

According to the PMD, Islamabad and its surrounding areas are expected to experience very cold and dry weather on Thursday night, with frost anticipated in the early morning hours. On Friday, similar conditions will persist, with daytime weather remaining cold and dry while temperatures plunge further during the night. The frosty mornings in Islamabad are likely to continue due to prevailing continental air across most parts of the country.

The PMD’s synoptic analysis indicates that the cold wave is driven by continental air dominating the region. Thursday, December 19, 2024, will see mainly cold and dry conditions across much of the country. However, upper areas will remain particularly frigid. Moderate to dense fog is also expected in the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially disrupting travel.

Friday, December 20, 2024, will bring similar weather patterns. Islamabad is likely to experience frost during the morning, particularly in areas like the Pothohar region. Cold and dry conditions will persist, while plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may again face fog during the night and early morning hours.

The PMD’s recent observations noted that cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country over the past 24 hours, with particularly freezing conditions in hilly areas. In Islamabad, residents reported frosty mornings and chilly evenings as temperatures dropped significantly.

Lowest temperatures recorded today included Leh at -11°C, Skardu at -9°C, and Ziarat at -8°C. These icy conditions serve as a reminder of the severity of the ongoing winter. Islamabad, while not reaching such extreme lows, continues to feel the brunt of the cold wave.

The PMD has urged residents of Islamabad to take precautions against the cold, particularly during early mornings and late evenings. Travelers and commuters are also advised to remain cautious in areas prone to dense fog, ensuring safe journeys during these frosty conditions.
