Islamabad, July 19, 2025 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain for Islamabad on Sunday, July 20, 2025, accompanied by partly cloudy and humid conditions.
The PMD’s detailed weather outlook for the federal capital suggests a 45% probability of isolated rain-thundershowers during the afternoon hours.
According to the PMD, the Islamabad weather on Sunday is expected to remain mostly humid and partly cloudy throughout the day. Residents have been advised to stay prepared for possible short spells of rainfall, which may offer temporary relief from the persistent heat and humidity experienced in recent days.
The weather update for Saturday night also indicates partly cloudy skies in Islamabad, with a 35% chance of rain-thundershowers. The changing weather conditions are attributed to two major systems currently influencing the region. One is a depression over Rajasthan, India, which is likely to move southwestward toward Sindh, Pakistan, within the next 24 hours. In addition, a trough of a westerly wave is affecting northern areas of the country, increasing the chance of scattered rainfall.
On a broader national level, the PMD forecast for Sunday mentions possible rain-wind/thundershowers across various regions including Sindh, South Punjab, Kashmir, Northeast and South Balochistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. There is also a likelihood of isolated heavy falls in southern Sindh, eastern Balochistan, and parts of Kashmir.
Over the past 24 hours, most parts of the country, including Islamabad, experienced hot and humid weather. However, areas in Southeast Sindh and Khuzdar saw rainfall and thundershowers, with Badin recording a significant 68 mm of rainfall. Other notable readings included 12 mm in Nagarparkar and 11 mm in Khuzdar.
Today’s highest temperatures were recorded in Nokkundi, Dalbandin (46°C), and Dadu (43°C), indicating the continuing heat stress in several parts of the country.
As Islamabad prepares for potential rainfall on Sunday, residents are advised to take precautions against slippery roads and sudden downpours, especially during afternoon hours. The PMD will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates if necessary. For now, a break from the sweltering summer heat may finally be on the horizon this Sunday.
