According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather in Islamabad and its surrounding areas will remain predominantly cold and dry throughout the day, with partly cloudy conditions expected to prevail during the evening and night.

For the night of Thursday, January 9, 2025, Islamabad and its surroundings are expected to experience cold and dry weather, with gusty winds adding to the chill. The PMD forecasts that the weather will remain consistent, with no significant changes expected in the coming hours.

On a national level, the PMD reported that continental air is currently dominating the weather pattern across most of Pakistan. However, a shallow westerly wave is expected to affect the upper regions of the country starting from tomorrow night, which could bring some changes to the prevailing weather conditions.

Looking at the broader weather outlook for Thursday, the PMD predicted mainly cold and dry weather across much of the country, with very cold conditions expected in hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog is expected in patches across northeast Punjab, while shallow to moderate fog may impact southern Punjab and upper Sindh. These conditions are expected to persist through the night, creating low visibility in some regions.

For Friday, January 10, 2025, the weather in Islamabad is expected to remain cold and dry for the most part, with very cold conditions continuing in the hilly areas. Fog is likely to form in patches, especially in northeast Punjab, while shallow to moderate fog is expected in southern Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning and night hours. Rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in southeastern Punjab and eastern Sindh during the evening and night, providing some relief from the dry conditions.

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across most parts of Pakistan, with particularly cold conditions in the hilly areas. Fog persisted in isolated spots in eastern Punjab, further contributing to the chill. The lowest recorded minimum temperatures today include Leh at -13°C, Astore at -12°C, and Gupis, Kalam, and Skardu at -9°C, among other chilly regions.

As the weather continues to remain cold and dry, residents of Islamabad are advised to take precautions against the cold, especially during the night.
