Isuzu D-Max facelift unveiled with powerful new Bi-Turbo engine

Isuzu introduces subtle exterior changes to its D-Max pickup and MU-X SUV in Thailand, alongside a new 2.2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine producing 150kW and 500Nm of torque.

Isuzu has unveiled facelifted versions of its D-Max pickup truck and MU-X SUV in Thailand, introducing revised styling and a more powerful diesel engine option. While the exterior changes remain relatively minor, the addition of a new 2.2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine brings a significant mechanical upgrade to both vehicles.

The updated Isuzu D-Max and MU-X made their debut in Thailand, where the models are manufactured for domestic sales and international markets. The revised lineup is expected to begin reaching Thai showrooms by the end of October.

Isuzu Introduces New 2.2-Litre Bi-Turbo Diesel Engine

The biggest highlight of the facelifted D-Max and MU-X is the introduction of a new bi-turbo version of Isuzu’s 2.2-litre Ddi Maxforce diesel engine. The engine builds on the powertrain introduced globally in late 2024 and delivers improved performance compared with the existing single-turbo configuration.

The new bi-turbo diesel produces 150kW of power at 3,600rpm and 500Nm of torque between 1,600rpm and 2,600rpm. It features a high-pressure 250MPa fuel injection system with 10-hole injectors to support efficient fuel delivery.

Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission and a revised eight-speed automatic gearbox. By comparison, the existing single-turbo 2.2-litre diesel generates 120kW and 400Nm of torque, making the bi-turbo variant a notable upgrade in both power and pulling capability.

The new engine will be offered in higher-specification versions of the D-Max and MU-X.

D-Max Facelift Brings Subtle Exterior Changes

The facelifted Isuzu D-Max receives several minor styling revisions, particularly at the front. Depending on the variant, changes include a slightly smaller grille, redesigned grille inserts and a colour-matched blade around the fog light housing.

Some versions also feature three rectangular openings near the leading edge of the bonnet, giving the pickup a refreshed appearance without substantially changing its overall design.

MU-X SUV Gets Updated Styling

The Isuzu MU-X also receives a series of exterior refinements to complement its new bi-turbo powertrain. Most variants feature redesigned grille inserts with closely positioned horizontal bars, along with a revised rear diffuser.

The range-topping RS variant receives more distinctive changes, including a gloss-black fog light surround, a new Supreme Onyx Grille and lime-green accents. These highlights appear on the wheel caps, badges, interior stitching and a redesigned arrow-shaped element in the headlight cluster.

With updated styling and a stronger diesel engine, the Isuzu D-Max and MU-X facelift aim to keep both models competitive in Thailand’s pickup and SUV segments.
