JAC Motors has officially unveiled its much-anticipated JAC Hunter PHEV Australian Edition at the renowned 2025 Greater Bay Auto Show, marking the global debut of the right-hand-drive plug-in hybrid pickup.

This milestone event highlights JAC’s growing commitment to global expansion, with Australia taking center stage as a key strategic market.

Expected to launch later this year under the T9 PHEV badge, the Hunter PHEV is poised to shake up the increasingly competitive electrified pickup segment.

Based on JAC’s rugged Hunter platform, the new PHEV variant maintains the tough and muscular styling of its diesel counterpart.

Key design upgrades include bold blue-accented JAC badging, a glossy black grille, and modern split-type LED headlights.

The Australian Edition also offers added functionality with aerodynamic 265/60 R18 alloy wheels, a redesigned rear cargo bed, a functional roll bar, and a practical overhead rack—ideal for both commercial use and outdoor enthusiasts.

To cater to a wide range of consumer needs, the Hunter PHEV will be offered in standard and long-wheelbase versions. The standard variant measures 5,330mm in length with a 3,110mm wheelbase and supports a 715kg payload.

Meanwhile, the long-wheelbase model adds 290mm in overall length, boosting cargo capacity while still offering a respectable 665kg payload—perfect for tradies and businesses alike.

Inside, JAC has tailored the cabin specifically for Australian drivers. The interior features a right-hand-drive layout, a sporty four-spoke steering wheel, and an elegant rotary gear selector.

Premium touches include diamond-quilted leather upholstery, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a responsive 10.4-inch central touchscreen.

Additional highlights include an electronic parking brake, auto-hold, and multiple drive modes for varying terrain and performance needs.

Under the hood, the Hunter PHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 160kW, paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system—130kW at the front and 150kW at the rear.

This setup ensures powerful traction and smooth driving across all surfaces. A high-capacity lithium iron phosphate battery, supplied by Guoxuan High-Tech, delivers an electric-only range of over 100km, making it ideal for zero-emission daily commutes.

With plug-in hybrid pickups gaining traction globally, the JAC Hunter PHEV Australian Edition offers a timely, powerful, and efficient solution—positioning itself as a serious contender in Australia’s evolving automotive landscape.
