James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has shared an exciting roadmap for the future of the DC Universe, offering fans a glimpse into what’s next for the franchise. The acclaimed filmmaker, known for his creative direction in The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy, discussed his plans during an interview with Deadline, detailing both upcoming films and TV series.

Speaking about his highly anticipated Superman film, Gunn revealed, “Man of Tomorrow was an idea I’ve had for a long time. I think I know the next few I’m directing, so I already know, frankly.” He emphasized that while each project can stand on its own, all upcoming DCU titles will still be part of a connected narrative.

“Because it’s part of the plan of the DCU, there is one big story,” Gunn explained. “On the one hand, I want everything to be okay to watch by itself. But also, there’s a bigger story being told that involves, say, Salvation, and that story involves Rick Flag, it involves Lex and Superman. Those are the movies I’m going to be directing. That’s the plan right now, at least.”

Despite his ambitious schedule, Gunn admitted that the workload can be intense. “I may get tired that I can’t do it because I’m pretty exhausted, but we’ll see. There’s a plan that I’m going to do a couple more, at least,” he said, suggesting that his vision for the DCU remains expansive and ongoing.

Currently, Peacemaker season two—another project under Gunn’s direction—has wrapped production. Meanwhile, Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, followed by Man of Tomorrow on July 9, 2027.

With his strategic storytelling and interconnected vision, James Gunn is shaping the DC Universe into a cohesive, exciting cinematic saga for years to come.
