James Gunn has given fans a rare glimpse into his vision for one of the most anticipated DCU projects — Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
The DC Studios co-CEO sparked excitement during an appearance on The Ringer-Verse podcast, where host Mallory Rubin asked about possible casting choices for the Dark Knight. With speculation swirling, Gunn admitted that he does have certain actors in mind.
“I mean, do I have ideas about actors to play Batman? Absolutely, I do,” Gunn revealed. “I have guys that I like, I have guys that are at the top of the list for me.” He added that fans are welcome to guess, noting, “Maybe they’ll be right about certain things, I don’t know.”
Interestingly, Gunn disclosed that at least one well-known actor has personally expressed interest in donning the cape and cowl. However, he clarified that nothing has been finalized, and he remains open-minded about the casting direction.
The filmmaker also reflected on the casting process for Superman. While he had a list of names in mind, David Corenswet — now confirmed as the new Superman — was not initially on it. This openness leaves the Batman role shrouded in even greater mystery.
Beyond Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Gunn’s upcoming DCU lineup includes Supergirl (June 26, 2026), Clayface (September 11, 2026), and Man of Tomorrow (July 9, 2027). Fans will be watching closely as Gunn shapes the future of the franchise.
