James Gunn, the CEO of DC Studios, recently shared exciting insights about the future of Batman, one of his all-time favorite superheroes.
In an exclusive interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Gunn opened up about his deep admiration for the Caped Crusader and the studio’s ambitious plans for the character in the DC Universe (DCU).
“This is the DCU Batman. Listen, I gotta tell you, I just love Batman, I love him! I’ve loved him since I was a little kid,” Gunn revealed. The celebrated filmmaker, known for his work on “Guardians of the Galaxy,” has long expressed his affection for the Dark Knight, even during his time at Marvel.
“He’s one of my favorite characters. I have gone on the record in the past when I was at Marvel saying, ‘My favorite character is Batman, I love him,” he added.
Gunn’s enthusiasm for Batman is palpable, and he’s eager for fans to witness the evolution of the iconic superhero. “We’re going to do great things with him. He’s the most popular superhero in the world, and I can’t wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman and together,” Gunn stated.
While fans eagerly anticipate what lies ahead for the Dark Knight, recent developments have brought mixed news. The highly anticipated sequel to Robert Pattinson’s “The Batman” has been delayed. Originally slated for release in 2026, the movie will now hit theaters in 2027.
Despite the delay, expectations remain high as the first installment, directed by Matt Reeves, was both a critical and commercial success.
Gunn’s passion for Batman and the DCU’s commitment to crafting compelling stories ensure that the future of the Caped Crusader is in good hands. As the DCU expands, fans can look forward to seeing Batman and Superman, two of the most beloved superheroes, share the screen in groundbreaking ways.
The wait may be long, but with Gunn’s vision and dedication, the next chapter of Batman promises to be worth it. Stay tuned for more updates on the Dark Knight’s journey in the ever-evolving DC Universe.
