Filmmaker James Gunn has revealed the official teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Superman, starring David Corenswet as the iconic Man of Steel.

The trailer premiered on Thursday, offering fans a first look at Corenswet’s portrayal of Clark Kent, the mild-mannered reporter for The Daily Planet.

The teaser provides a glimpse of the superhero’s world, introducing Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, seen working at the Daily Planet, alongside Nicholas Hoult as Superman’s formidable foe, Lex Luthor. The short footage offers a brief yet thrilling look at what’s to come in this fresh take on the beloved character.

During the trailer’s launch event, James Gunn shared his vision for the film, focusing on the values of decency Superman embodies, not only for America but the world. Gunn explained that Superman represents a character of hope and goodness, especially in the context of modern society.

“I think that’s what ‘Take me home is all about.’ We do have sort of a battered vision of Superman at the beginning, and I think that is our country. I believe in the goodness of human beings, and I believe that most people in this country, despite their ideological beliefs or their politics, are doing their best to get by and trying to be good people,” Gunn said.

Set to release on July 11 next year, Superman marks the first solo movie for the character since 2013’s Man of Steel. This film is also expected to launch the new DC Universe, overseen by Gunn and producer Peter Safran, marking a new chapter for the franchise.

David Corenswet, known for his role in Netflix’s Hollywood, will make his debut in the DC cinematic universe. In a recent interview, Corenswet reflected on his experience playing Superman, admitting that he sometimes didn’t feel like the superhero while on set.

“It’s like when you get a nice haircut, and you forget about it, but then you walk around and everybody’s like, ‘Whoa, you look great, for once!’ I got to see other people see Superman,” he shared.

With its star-studded cast and James Gunn’s vision, Superman promises to be an exciting new chapter for the DC Universe.
