Islamabad, January 17, 2026 — As Pakistan gears up for the next phase of its digital transformation, Jazz has joined hands with global technology leader ZTE and local distributor Siccotel to expand access to affordable 5G-enabled smartphones across the country.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, the partnership aims to address one of Pakistan’s biggest digital challenges: limited access to next-generation devices. Currently, only around 2% of smartphones in Pakistan support 5G, a gap that could slow the real-world impact of upcoming network upgrades and the country’s broader digital readiness.

Under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), ZTE’s next-generation 5G smartphones will be introduced in Pakistan through Siccotel as the official local distributor, while Jazz will support nationwide availability and market reach. The collaboration is designed to bring some of the most affordable 5G-ready handsets to consumers, helping reduce a key barrier to adoption.

The initiative is expected to benefit students, young professionals, small businesses, and digital entrepreneurs, enabling greater participation in Pakistan’s evolving digital economy as the country moves toward a future spectrum auction.

“As devices are now a core part of the digital infrastructure, access to compatible smartphones is critical to unlocking the full potential of future technologies,” said Asad Maqbool, Head of Jazz Consumer Growth.

Li Guowen, CEO of ZTE, said the company remains committed to making advanced technology accessible, while Usman Sultan, CEO of Siccotel, emphasized the importance of wide-scale device availability across Pakistan.

By improving access to 5G-ready smartphones, the partnership aims to ensure that future connectivity advancements translate into tangible economic and social benefits nationwide.
