The Oscar-winning actress shared Katniss Everdeen’s famous rebellion message on Instagram as she encouraged Americans to participate in the US midterm elections.

Jennifer Lawrence has invoked an iconic Hunger Games quote to encourage her fans to vote in the US midterm elections.

The Oscar-winning actress shared a photograph on her new Instagram account on Tuesday, 3 November, coinciding with Election Day.

“MIDTERMS BB. DON’T FORGET WHO BURNS WITH US,” Lawrence captioned the post, which also included a link providing information about polling locations.

The photograph showed the actress in New York wearing an oversized graphic T-shirt, blue coat and red trousers. She styled her hair in a braid resembling her character Katniss Everdeen and made the franchise’s famous three-finger salute, a symbol of rebellion.

Her caption referenced Katniss’s memorable rallying cry from the third film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1: “If we burn, you burn with us!”

Lawrence’s post comes as the popular franchise prepares for another cinematic release. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas later this month.

The actress has also confirmed that she will reprise her role as Katniss alongside Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson, with their appearances expected to feature in scenes adapting the novel’s epilogue.

Her Election Day message brought renewed attention to the franchise’s enduring themes of resistance and solidarity while delivering a simple reminder to fans to participate in the democratic process.
