Jennifer Lawrence is earning praise for her raw honesty as she opens up about her powerful new role in the upcoming film Die My Love.

The Oscar-winning actress, widely known for The Hunger Games franchise and Silver Linings Playbook, portrays a mother dealing with the overwhelming and often isolating challenges of postpartum depression.

The 35-year-old star, who shares two children with husband and art dealer Cooke Maroney, welcomed her first son in 2022 and her second child earlier this year. Lawrence revealed that the story deeply resonated with her own experience of early motherhood.

She explained that reading Ariana Harwicz’s book, which the film is based on, helped her build an emotional connection with the character.

“There was so much I identified with,” she shared. “The identity crisis you go through when you first become a mother shifts everything in your life.”

While her first postpartum period was relatively manageable, Lawrence admitted that her second experience proved far more difficult. This personal struggle shaped her performance and made filming the emotional scenes even more intense.

In Die My Love, Lawrence plays Grace, a woman adjusting to life in a remote countryside home while navigating the mental and physical demands of caring for a newborn. Her partner Jackson, portrayed by Robert Pattinson, is frequently absent — a dynamic that adds strain to Grace’s already fragile state of mind.

The actress praised director Lynne Ramsay, calling the 2024 filming experience in Canada “fantastic” and creatively fulfilling. Lawrence noted that Ramsay’s vision brings a truthful and unfiltered lens to motherhood, mental health, and relationships.

Beyond acting, the Don’t Look Up star continues championing female-centered stories through her production company Excellent Cadaver, which has backed projects such as the documentary Zurawski v. Texas. Lawrence hopes her latest role will spark deeper conversations about the pressures mothers face and the realities of life after childbirth.

With Die My Love, Jennifer Lawrence delivers what is expected to be one of her most emotional and authentic performances — offering audiences a raw, heartfelt portrayal of postpartum struggles rarely shown on screen.
