Jessie J was visibly emotional as she broke down in tears on stage during the London launch of her new album Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time, where she debuted a set of deeply personal songs reflecting the most challenging moments of her life.
The performance marked a powerful and emotional return to music for the 37-year-old singer, who is currently undergoing treatment following her breast cancer diagnosis. Jessie J opened up to fans about grief, loss, healing, and resilience as she honored the fourth anniversary of her heartbreaking miscarriage with a moving new track titled Comes in Waves.
She told the audience, “Today marks four years that I lost my baby. It’s something you can’t ever really prepare for, so this song is for anyone who needs that hug. I hope this song can help you as much as it’s helped me.” The emotional ballad includes the poignant lyrics: “I hate how much I miss the future that we never made… You are with me everywhere I go.”
Jessie J suffered the devastating loss of her baby in 2021—a tragedy that deeply impacted her before she later welcomed her son, Sky, with her partner, basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, in May 2023.
The singer also performed I’ll Never Know Why, a heartfelt tribute to her close friend and longtime bodyguard Dave, who passed away suddenly in 2018. Overcome with emotion, she described the song as “the saddest” she has ever written. Jessie shared memories of Dave’s unwavering support, revealing how he protected her through severe anxiety episodes and frightening stalking incidents during the height of her fame.
Earlier this year, Jessie J confirmed she had undergone a mastectomy as part of her breast cancer treatment and told fans that she will require another operation. Despite her health battles, she delivered a raw, vulnerable, and powerful performance—one that highlighted her emotional strength and deep connection with her audience.
