Julia Fox has stepped in to defend Taylor Swift against what she views as unfair and sexist criticism. In a new interview with Pedestrian TV on Sept. 24, the Uncut Gems star called out the long-standing habit of blaming women—especially celebrity girlfriends or wives—when athletes underperform.
Fox pointed to a recent example involving NFL star Travis Kelce, who is engaged to Swift. “I remember Travis Kelce lost a game, and then people were saying it was Taylor Swift’s fault,” Fox said. “It was like, ‘What? That’s …!’ But blame women—they love to do that.”
The actress, 35, highlighted the double standards at play, noting how often sports fans shift accountability away from men. “If a guy loses a game, it’s a girl’s fault,” she explained. “All the superstitions and irrational s–t these men believe ultimately lead to women being blamed.” With a touch of irony, Fox added: “It’s like, ‘I didn’t know we were so powerful.’ So, you’re admitting we are powerful?”
Meanwhile, Kelce himself has accepted responsibility for his mistakes. After the Kansas City Chiefs’ Sept. 5 season opener, he apologized on his New Heights podcast for a collision with rookie teammate Xavier Worthy, admitting he “felt like s–t” and owed Worthy “big time.”
Swift and Kelce’s recent engagement has only intensified public scrutiny. The announcement shocked fans worldwide, with even Ed Sheeran admitting he found out on Instagram. The revelation has fueled speculation about shifting dynamics in Swift’s inner circle, surprising fans who have long celebrated Sheeran and Swift’s close friendship.
