Julia Roberts couldn’t hide her admiration for Andrew Garfield’s exceptional talent while working together on their upcoming psychological thriller After the Hunt.

During an interview on Good Morning America, Roberts reflected on the first day of filming and how Garfield immediately impressed her with his performance.

“First take, Andrew just blows in and has this great scene,” Roberts recalled with a smile. “It’s a long, emotional moment, and when it was over, I was like, ‘Whoa, I’m sweating.’” The Academy Award-winning actress admitted she was captivated by Garfield’s skill and intensity from the start, describing the moment as a reminder of why she loves filmmaking.

Roberts also spoke warmly about her co-star Ayo Edebiri, who plays the favorite student of Roberts’ character, Professor Alma. “It’s been so beautiful to work beside Ayo,” Roberts shared. “I truly admire her—her voice, her perspective, and the honesty she brings to every scene.”

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, After the Hunt follows Roberts’ character as she navigates a moral and emotional crisis when her favorite student accuses a colleague and close friend, played by Garfield, of assault.

With its gripping storyline and powerhouse performances from Roberts, Garfield, and Edebiri, the film is already generating major buzz ahead of its release.
