Islamabad, August 22, 2025 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday extended the deadline for filing sales tax and federal excise return for the month of July 2025.
According to a notification, Khalid Mehmoode, Second Secretary, said “I am directed to refer to the subject and say that in exercise of the powers conferred under section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, the Federal Board of Revenue is pleased to direct that the date of submission of Sales Tax and Federal Excise Return for the tax period of July, 2025 which was due on August 18, 2025 is hereby extended till August 26, 2025 subject to the condition that due sales tax liability has been deposited within due date.”
The FBR informed the extension in deadline of submission of sales tax and federal excise returns for the tax period of July 2025 to the Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue of Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers Offices (MTO), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs).
The FBR extended the deadline for submission of sales tax and federal excise return on the representations received from taxpayers and tax consultants, who were facing difficulties in making compliance. Besides, recent floods in the country also caused power outages and internet disturbance also challenged the return filing process.
