Amid their own personal challenges, Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, set their troubles aside to support friends who were grappling with the devastating consequences of the Los Angeles wildfires.

John Kim, a licensed therapist known for his popular Instagram account The Angry Therapist, took to social media on Thursday, January 30th, to share a heartfelt story about how the Jane the Virgin star and his wife stepped in to help during a difficult time.

“If you don’t know, we lost our home in the Altadena fire a couple of weeks ago. In the first six days, we slept in five different beds, hopping between hotels and Airbnbs. Then I got a text from @justinbaldoni and @emilybaldoni offering their home to us. I don’t know them that well, so I initially declined—I didn’t feel comfortable with it,” Kim revealed in his Instagram caption.

Despite his initial hesitation, Baldoni was persistent in his offer of support. Kim recounted how the actor insisted that he and his family stay in their home, as the Baldonis were leaving for Hawaii to escape their own set of personal difficulties.

“I told them I was with another family with two kids. He said bring them. So, for the last week and a half, two families have been staying in their home. It has truly been a miracle and a gift. It has given us space, breath, and some peace. The kids are playing and laughing. We are sharing meals and able to reset and figure out our next steps. Their home has been and continues to be healing in so many ways,” Kim shared.

Expressing gratitude, the psychologist made it clear that no one had prompted him to share this account of Baldoni’s generosity, particularly as the actor is facing an ongoing legal dispute with actress Blake Lively.

“I don’t know what happened on movie sets and in boardrooms. I wasn’t there. But I do know how one kind and compassionate family has helped us when we needed it most,” Kim concluded.

Through their selfless actions, Justin and Emily Baldoni have demonstrated that even in the face of personal struggles, acts of kindness can make a world of difference to those in need.
