K-Electric Appoints Syed Taha as New CEO

Karachi Electric

Karachi, March 24, 2026 – K-Electric has announced the appointment of Syed Taha as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 15, 2026, marking a key leadership transition at Pakistan’s largest power utility serving Karachi.

In a formal notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company confirmed that its Board of Directors approved Taha’s appointment, replacing interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad, who had been leading the organization since February 2026 following the departure of former CEO Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi.

Syed Taha brings extensive experience in the energy and power sectors. He holds an engineering degree along with an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. Since February 2020, he has been serving as Managing Director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), where he played a critical role in strengthening operational performance and driving strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining PSO, Taha worked as Executive Director at Oasis Energy, where he led the Program Management Office of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria. Notably, he also has prior experience within K-Electric, having served as Chief Distribution Officer, giving him valuable insight into the company’s operations and challenges.

Industry analysts view Taha’s appointment as a strategic move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving service delivery, and accelerating infrastructure development. His leadership is expected to play a vital role in addressing Karachi’s energy demands and advancing K-Electric’s long-term growth strategy.

The transition comes at a crucial time as K-Electric continues efforts to modernize its network and ensure reliable power supply across the city.
