Islamabad, January 5, 2025 – Karachi, Pakistan’s bustling port city, is gearing up for an unusually cold spell over the next 48 hours, with temperatures predicted to dip significantly.
According to forecasts by AccuWeather, the minimum temperature in Karachi on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, is expected to drop as low as 6°C, marking a sharp deviation from the city’s typical winter climate.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), however, offers a slightly moderated forecast, estimating minimum temperatures in Karachi to range between 10°C and 12°C during this period for Karachi. This divergence underscores the unpredictable nature of the current weather systems impacting the region. Following this cold snap, Karachi is expected to return to its usual moderate winter conditions.
On a broader scale, the PMD attributes the current weather pattern to continental air prevailing over much of Pakistan, coupled with the influence of a shallow westerly trough affecting Kashmir and surrounding areas.
