Karachi faces freezing night as temperatures drop after rain

Rain Karachi

Karachi, January 22, 2026 – Following intermittent rain on Thursday, Karachi is expected to experience a notably cold night as temperatures drop sharply across the city, according to weather forecasts.

The financial and commercial hub of Pakistan has seen a change in weather pattern, with showers bringing temporary relief from dry conditions but also setting the stage for colder nights ahead.

AccuWeather, the global online weather forecasting portal, reported that Karachi remained partly sunny and windy on Thursday, with occasional afternoon showers and a high probability of rainfall. Daytime temperatures hovered around the mid-20s Celsius, while strong winds contributed to a lower “RealFeel” temperature. Despite the rain, air quality levels remained very unhealthy, raising concerns for residents with respiratory conditions.

The forecast for Friday indicates a significant drop in nighttime temperatures, with the mercury expected to fall close to 6 degrees Celsius. While no rain is anticipated, hazy sunshine is likely during the day, and cold northwesterly winds may further intensify the chill, especially during late evening and early morning hours.

Weather conditions are expected to improve slightly over the weekend. Saturday is likely to remain dry, with breezy conditions and broken sunny intervals. Temperatures may recover marginally during the daytime, though nights are expected to stay cool.

Meteorologists advise residents to take precautions against the cold, particularly children, the old-age, and those with health concerns. Citizens are also urged to limit outdoor exposure during poor air quality periods and remain updated with official weather advisories as conditions continue to evolve.
