Weather Monsoon

Karachi, February 16, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Karachi on February 17, 2026, as a westerly weather system approaches the western regions of the country.

According to PMD Deputy Director Anjum Nazir Zaighum, showers are expected in Karachi between 2pm and 3pm tomorrow. The Met Office also warned of strong winds and a possible rise in temperature over the weekend, with mercury expected to reach 34°C or higher on Saturday and Sunday.

The PMD said that during Ramadan, temperatures are likely to remain moderate, hovering around 30°C, providing relief from extreme heat.

Rain and thunderstorms are also expected in several Sindh districts, including Dadu, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Khairpur, starting from Monday evening and continuing into Tuesday. A shallow westerly system may bring gusty winds and dust-raining showers across the province.

Meanwhile, Balochistan is expected to see light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds in areas such as Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Mastung, Turbat, Gwadar, and Lasbela from Monday evening through February 17. Isolated light rain or drizzle may also occur in southern Punjab, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Bahawalpur.

Residents are advised to stay cautious, avoid outdoor travel during heavy showers, and monitor PMD updates for changing weather conditions.
