Karachi set for major heat relief: Rain and cooler days ahead

Karachi, March 16, 2026 – Residents of Karachi can expect relief from the scorching summer heat over the next few days, as weather forecasts indicate a noticeable drop in temperatures. According to AccuWeather, the city will experience cooler conditions starting March 17, with daytime highs gradually falling from 37°C on Monday to around 30–33°C by Wednesday.

Monday will remain very hot with spells of sunshine and breezy conditions in the afternoon. The RealFeel® temperature is expected to reach 38°C, with the UV index at 8, categorized as unhealthy. By Tuesday, periods of sunshine will prevail, with temperatures easing to 33°C and a slightly lower UV index of 7. Wednesday will bring broken intervals of sun and more comfortable temperatures, with the high dropping further to 30°C. Thursday is likely to see isolated morning showers followed by sunny spells, as humidity increases ahead of the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that a westerly weather system is expected to trigger widespread rain across the country from March 17 to 20. Karachi and other parts of Sindh are forecasted to receive downpours during the Eid ul Fitr holiday period. The PMD advisory also predicts breezy conditions and occasional thundery spells across several regions, beginning the evening of March 17.

Meteorologists say that this combination of rainfall and cooler temperatures will provide much-needed relief from the recent heatwave, offering residents a more comfortable climate ahead of the long weekend.
